The Mclaren’s were clearly the fastest machine on track at the Australian Grand Prix just a week ago with both of the Papaya team driver’s out qualifying the rest of the field by .300 of a second.
Heading into this Sprint Weekend, the McLaren’s pace will be key again with the Chinese Grand Prix also one of the fastest tracks on the calendar. However the knack to winning in China is navigating tyre degradation with the Shanghai International Circuit having so many long, high-speed corners that put a lot of pressure on the tyres.
Last season the Red Bull of Max Verstappen dominated both the sprint and Sunday’s race, however, the same pace is just not there and the McLaren’s will lead the charge.
2025 Formula 1 Chinese GP Qualifying Best Bet
After seeing the raw pace advantage of the McLaren’s, especially Lando Norris is both qualifying and in the race, it is hard to look past the Brit in China.
Norris edged out Australian Oscar Piastri by .084 sec in qualifying at his home grand prix in the opening race of the season. However, Norris also posted the fastest lap on race day and was 2km/h quicker in average pace than any other driver on track.
2025 Formula 1 Chinese GP Best Bet
Norris will start at the front of the grid and will be the first car to see the chequered flag at the Chinese Grand Prix.
After qualifying fourth last season, Norris took second place, well back from Max Verstappen, but six seconds ahead of any other driver.
With a clear superior car in 2025, Norris will only need to fight of his teammate Oscar Piastri in securing his second win of the season in as many races.
