Via Sistina is aiming to defend her Ranvet Stakes crown, with the import having taken out the 2024 edition when on Australian debut last autumn.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock has won six Group 1's in Australia and that includes a last start triumph when second-up in the Verry Elleegant Stakes, while her highlight was the Cox Plate romp last prep (broke the race record).
At $1.50 with Ladbrokes, Via Sistina leads the 2025 Ranvet Stakes market.
Dubai Honour ($5) also saluted on Australian debut in this race, with the William Haggas-trained galloper successful in the 2023 Ranvet Stakes before winning the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.
The English-based gelding was a Group 1 winner in France last year, while he's finished runner-up via his last three outings (two at Group 1 level).
Fawkner Park ($7) caught the eye first-up over 1600m in the Verry Elleegant Stakes and he'll be suited by the rise in distance here.
He carried 60kg under handicap conditions when saluting over this track/trip last spring and the six-year-old was unlucky in third via his last Group 1 attempt over this distance (2024 Doomben Cup).

Ranvet Stakes Winners
The Ranvet Stakes has a rich honour roll of past champions since its 1903 inception, which includes famous winners such as Lough Neagh, Bernborough, Tulloch, Wenona Girl, Sky High in the earlier years before the more modern champions in Gunsynd, Better Loosen Up, Tie The Knot and Verry Elleegant.
This feature is run over 2000m at Rosehill Gardens and was afforded Group 1 status back in 1980, when it was known as the Rawson Stakes.
The Ranvet Stakes of five Group 1's on a stacked Golden Slipper card and given it's run at weight-for-age level, we often see a stong field of locals and imports assembled for this ten furlong event.
