Best Bet:

Race 10 No. 3 Deferred

She's very honest, with three wins and four placings to her name, while her only time finishing out of the top four was an end-of-prep fifth when back in a leader-dominated race.

Deferred returned with a third-of-seven at Ascot on February 22, where she just lacked the brilliance to let down strongly over five furlongs, but it was still a solid resumption.

All of her prior form had been in the 1200m-1400m range and five furlongs is often a specialists trip, so there's room to improve and she was a second-up winner last prep.

That July 24 triumph was the middle leg of a winning hat-trick (last win was a Saturday metro race) and with a class drop another positive for Deferred, she's very well placed here.

Value Bet:

Race 7 No. 2 Wembanyama

This son of Dundeel is now under the care of WA trainer Mack Hall and this is an in-form stable, with three winners and five placegetters recorded from his last 10 starters.

1200m appears on the short side for Wembanyama, although his March 4 trial at Belmont suggests that he's forward enough to produce fresh and Jarrad Noske sticks from the heat.

While he couldn't progress in three spring appearances, this gelding looked a Sydney city class horse in the making when prepared by O'Shea & Charlton and he's now in an Ascot Class 1.

1350m-1600m was around the sweet spot in New South Wales, but Wembanyama be suited by a firm surface on Wednesday and this is the weakest race that he's ever contested.

Market Mover:

Race 5 No. 1 Amaroo Star

He was building into the prep well ahead of a last start breakthrough and Amaroo Star has been heavily supported with EliteBet to go back-to-back on Wednesday.

After opening up on the second line of betting ($3.60), Amaroo is now an outright favourite ($2.45).

Stats Say:

At 23.27%, William Pike has the best strike-rate of any jockey at Ascot over the last 12 months and 'The Wizard' has ridden 10 winners since returning from injury in mid-February

He has 11 rides on Wednesday's program, although his Race 4 engagement (True Blue Bondi) still requires two scratchings to make the field.
