Race 4 No. 6 Candle In The Dark
Chris Waller’s representative made the perfect start to her career when breaking her maiden at the first time of asking at Yarra Glen in December.
Racing over 1500m on a good 3 track the filly defied a slow start to deliver a victory by nearly a length having been the subject of support in the market.
The pick jumped as favourite when racing over the same distance when again racing on a good 3 surface stepped up to Benchmark 64 level at Mornington the following month.
While unable to maintain her unbeaten record that day she was beaten less than half-a-length into second with the fifth and sixth both boosting the form with subsequent wins.
Connections scratched from a race at Sandown on Wednesday to head here and that move can pay dividends with their representative returning from a let-up.
Value Bet:
Race 7 No. 1 Exuma
The three-year-old broke recorded a first-up victory when taking out a Benchmark 58 handicap at Werribee at the end of January.
The selection got home by a narrow margin when racing on a good 4 track on that occasion and while she failed to make an impact next time that did come in a Benchmark 70 handicap.
The gelding contested a metro event at Moonee Valley that day and the drop back to country-level racing for this Benchmark 0-64 handicap is a positive here.
While a wide barrier is a concern here the son of Blue Point has his Werribee jockey Steph Hateley back in the saddle for this contest.
Hateley boasts an impressive 45% strike-rate (9/20) when riding for Anthony & Sam Freedman and her mount looks value to record a win having been freshened since his latest effort.

Race 3 No. 1 Bologna Baby
Trainer Grahame Begg has saddled winners with three of his last six runners and his filly has been backed to break her maiden in the third race.
The mare showed good form last prep placing second twice on the synthetic track at Pakenham including over 1600m in August.
The four-year-old failed to shine dropped to 1200m for a turf contest there first up this time around and she is expected to appreciate the step up to 1400m here.
The daughter of Smart Missile was $9.50 when markets opened with Ladbrokes and she's now on the fourth line of betting at $5.50.
Stats Say:
Trainer Reece Goodwin boasts a 27% strike-rate (3/11) here this season including when on the mark with Primal Spirit here a week ago.
Promising apprentice Hannah Edgley was on board that day and the pair team up with Goodwin’s sole runner on the card here British Poet in the sixth.
The gelding broke through for his first win in a 1010m maiden at Sale last month and he drops in grade following a seventh in a Benchmark 0-62 handicap at Pakenham subsequently.
