XXXX Sideline Beer Garden 3 May QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Tips (Race 1)
Doomben Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Explosive Power
Allan Chau’s gelding showed up well when third in a Gold Coast barrier trial prior to debuting at Ballina last month.
Racing from off the pace the pick showed a good turn of foot to finish strongly to place second, beaten less than half-a-length when racing over 1300m that day.
The third home has gone on to boost the form winning at both Lismore and Grafton subsequently while the sixth and eighth home have both gone on to place in maiden company.
The pick raced on a soft 5 track at Ballina and encountered quicker underfoot conditions when placing third having started odds-on for a 1400m maiden at Gatton subsequently.
The son of Sweynesse was ridden closer to the speed that day and a return to the forecast wet track is expected to suit.
The selection steps up in distance here and with a good barrier next to the rail looks up to breaking through to record his first win.

Doomben Value Bet - Race 3 No. 11 Remlap Kava
The son of Better Than Ready demonstrated ability despite finishing unplaced in a couple of maiden races in his first prep including over 1200m at Eagle Farm in July.
The three-year-old went on to deliver his best effort to date when resuming from a spell to place third, beaten three lengths over 1400m at Sunshine Coast at the end of September.
The pick shaped as if still in need of the experience when staying on nicely from off the pace on that occasion with the second home breaking his maiden next time.
A change of tactics saw the gelding race closer to the speed prior to fading to be beaten three-and-a-half-lengths stepped up to 1800m at Eagle Farm next time and he was spelled following that effort.
The gelding arrives here on the back of a barrier trial third at Sunshine Coast and dropping in distance he looks value to salute for a stable who have won with their last four starters.

Doomben Roughie - Race 4 No. 5 Whisky Train
The New Zealand-bred gelding takes the eye here having shown his best form last prep when encountering wet conditions.
Those efforts included a Beaudesert maiden win over 1650m at the end of March when encountering a heavy 10 surface.
The selection went on to place third in a Benchmark 60 handicap over the same course and distance when racing on a heavy 8 surface the following month.
The five-year-old hasn’t been at his best in two starts over sprint distances this prep however it’s notable that he jumped at big odds on each occasion including at Gold Coast last time.
The pick raced over 1300m in a Benchmark 0-58 handicap when beaten five-and-a-half-lengths in finishing tenth that day.
Gillian Heinrich’s representative usually is expected to show improvement racing third up and with the extra distance here in his favour he may prove capable of surprising some better-fancied rivals.

Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Rich Minx
The four-year-old showed good form earlier this season including when resuming with a third-place finish over 1000m at Sunshine Coast in early August.
The filly went on to score in impressive fashion on her next two starts with the second of those triumphs coming over this course and distance when competing a Benchmark 65 level.
The pick justified short-priced favouritism to deliver a four-length victory when making all the running to record a win when racing on a good 4 surface that day.
The daughter of Rich Enuff had previously won on the synthetic track at Gold Coast and she reportedly found the heavy ground against her at Toowoomba on her final start last prep.
The soft 6 track expected here shouldn’t pose any issues while the filly has won when racing first up in the past.
Ryan Maloney, on board for her win here in September is reunited with Matthew Hoysted’s filly here and the pair look up to recording their second win together.
