Tony Gollan’s galloper has been in good form without winning this prep finishing runner-up in both starts since finishing fourth at Sunshine Coast on his return from a spell.
That Sunshine Coast effort saw the gelding finish just over three-lengths back in fourth when contesting the 1400m Listed Sunshine Coast Cup in January.
Regular rider Angela Jones, on board that day and for both subsequent starts is again set to ride here with her mount having shown up well on wet tracks in the past.
The pick was beaten less than half-a-length when runner-up in a 1400m open handicap when racing over 1400m on a wet surface here on her penultimate start.
The extra distance proved no issue when the son of Vadamos came home just over a length back in second in a 1615m open handicap at Doomben a month ago.
That contest has produced a couple of winners with the eighth and twelfth both recording wins since and he is taken to register his first win since crossing the Tasman Sea.

The son of Capitalist is a dual winner this prep including when winning by a wide margin on a wet track over 870m at Toowoomba in December.
The gelding won on a soft 7 track when contest a Benchmark 62 handicap that day and he returned to winning ways returning to that venue for a Benchmark 70 handicap last month.
The selection came home nearly a length clear of his rivals last time with the fourth home winning back at Toowoomba earlier this month.
The pick raced from the front that day and similar tactics are expected with barrier three a positive in this contest.
The three-year-old has forecast underfoot conditions to suit and she looks ready for a return to metro racing here.
Jockey Emily Lang’s two-kilogram claim is a further positive and the rider can improve on her near 37% strike-rate (18/49) when riding for trainer Pat Webster.

Tony Gollan’s representative delivered a course and distance victory when contesting a similar race to this in May last year.
The pick registered a narrow victory with that victory, which came on a soft 5 surface one of three triumphs for the gelding from nine outings on wet tracks.
The six-year-old has failed to win in six starts since however he has demonstrated improvement with racing this time around including twice at this venue.
The first of those course efforts saw him beaten less than three-and-a-half-lengths when ninth in a 1000m Class 6 plate event here on his penultimate start.
The son of Deep Field appeared to appreciate the step up to this distance when beaten less than two lengths in finishing sixth over this track and trip when again contesting a Class 6 event earlier this month.
A wide alley shouldn’t pose too many issues given the gelding’s racing style and he is taken to record his second course and distance win.
