Yarra Valley Toyota Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)
Yarra Valley Value Bet - Race 2 No. 5 Brazenly
The four-year-old showed ability in two starts in maiden company including when fifth over 1014m on debut at Moe.
The filly raced on a sound surface when beaten just under three-and-a-half-lengths that day and she made a quick return to action at Mornington ten days later.
The pick was again beaten just under three-and-a-half-lengths over 1000m with both of those efforts coming on good going.
The daughter of Brazen Beau was given a break following that Mornington effort and she hails from an in-form stable with trainer Jack Laing boasting a 43% strike-rate (3/7) in the last month.
Sage Duric’s mount has been kept busy in jumpout’s at Cranbourne in recent times delivering three efforts in the last three weeks.
The selection’s two most jumpout efforts have seen her come home in front over 650m and she looks value to put in an improved effort to break her maiden.
Manhari BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Yarra Valley Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Attain
The son of Outreach registered some good efforts in metro company earlier this prep including when two lengths second over 1200m at Moonee Valley in November.
The gelding contested a Benchmark 64 handicap on a sound surface that day and he was freshened following a two length fifth in a similar event over 1400m at Sandown at the end of January.
That looked a strong race for the grade with the winner Sepals going on to score in Group 3 company next time prior to delivering a fourth in Flemington’s Australian Guineas.
The selection appeared to appreciate the drop in grade when coming home just under half-a-length clear of his rivals in a Benchmark 0-62 handicap at Pakenham earlier this month.
The four-year-old raced over 1200m when jumping from an inside barrier on that occasion and barrier five is a positive in this contest.
Jockey Logan Bates, on board last time out is again set to ride and his mount looks capable of registering his third win of the season.
Bosch BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Yarra Valley Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Mr Vivaci
The New Zealand-bred gelding demonstrated ability on debut at Ballarat in August prior to finishing sixth of eighth over 1500m at Sandown just under two weeks later.
The gelding was spelled following that effort and confirmed the promise of his Ballarat effort when coming home clear of his rivals over 1514m here on his return to action.
The selection raced prominently having been fast away on that occasion prior to quickening nine lengths clear of his rivals in the straight.
The son of Tivaci again raced prominently prior to being beaten just over one-and-a-half-lengths when placing third of four stepped up to 1600m at Moonee Valley at the end of last month.
The pick was overhauled for second late on when contesting a Benchmark 64 handicap that day and the drop back in distance is no issue here.
Chris Waller’s representative remains open to improvement and dropping to country-level racing he looks up to doubling his career tally.
Jack Hirsh Memorial Yarra Valley Cup Tips (Race 7)
Yarra Valley Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Golden Crusader
The seven-year-old won twice last year including when successful by two lengths over 2400m at Sandown at the end of August.
The gelding contested a Benchmark 78 handicap on that occasion and he was spelled following a disappointing effort when jumping at $2.50 for a Listed contest at Mornington subsequently.
The selection started at big odds when finishing a respectable eighth over a trip short of his best when eighth in a 1600m Benchmark 84 handicap at Flemington when racing first up this prep.
The son of Golden Horn improved for his first run back last prep and the step up to 1950m is a positive in this contest.
While the pick handles good going, he has shown up well on wet tracks in the past and any softening of the going with rain forecast would aid his chances.
The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jr stable can boast an impressive 31% strike-rate (9/29) at this venue and their representative is taken to provide them with a winner.
