A runner-up in the last two editions of the Miami Open, Rybakina will be hoping to go one step further this time around. It hasn't been an easy last few months for a number of reasons, but Rybakina has been consistent to start the 2025 season, winning 15 of her 21 matches and registering at least two wins in all six of her tournaments so far.

That bodes well for a winning start to Miami, but history suggests it might not be so straightforward for Rybakina. The 25-year-old has been knocked out by boom teenager Mirra Andreeva in her last two tournaments, including in the R16 at Indian Wells last week.

Rybakina has a 10-2 record in Miami over the last two years, finishing runner-up to Petra Kvitova and Danielle Collins respectively.

Krueger has registered a 13-8 record this season and is currently operating at a career-high ranking of No. 40 - meaning she enters this match full of confidence.

The 20-year-old has announced herself as a player to watch, with her main highlight of 2025 coming when she finished runner-up at the WTA 500 event in Abu Dhabi, going down to Belinda Bencic.

The American also made quarter-finals in Brisbane and Adelaide to launch the season and is coming off a second round showing in Indian Wells, where she went down in three sets to the in-form Elina Svitolina.

Krueger has already played a match in Miami, easily accounting for Renata Zarazua 6-3 6-2, which doubled as her first ever win at the tournament.
